The daily rhythm continues: the five-hour work shift through to lunchtime, with the convivial mid-morning half-hour break where everyone downs tools. I ask Anje how yesterday’s writing went, and she informs me that the 90s were a difficult decade. How so? She recounts the tragic event, 26 years ago, when seven members of the local mountaineering club were killed in an accident – including her uncle, Drejc’s brother.
We do another raspberry pick and Polona immediately freezes them in single-layer sheets.
The lunchtime clear-up extends into a lengthy food-stashing activity after Polona’s shopping trip. We get to see another historic space – the cellar.
Polona motivates me with the promise of coffee in the sun (with another piece of the delish plum crumble/cheesecake). I am now running on 3 coffees a day.
Afterwards, a stroll down to the lake – which is looking sublime.
